Facebook’s investor-relations chief Anil Gupta has moved to a similar role at cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase. The Block reports.
Gupta joined Facebook in 2012. Before that, he worked on equity-market analytics at the investment firms Imperial Capital and Oppenheimer.
The new role will see Gupta work with Coinbase’s chief financial officer and become the company’s face on Wall Street. With his help, the exchange plans to improve its relations with investors.
The appointment comes as Coinbase prepares to go public. In December, the cryptocurrency exchange filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) a filing to conduct an initial public offering.
Earlier, Andreessen Horowitz founder Marc Andreessen joined Coinbase’s board of directors as an observer.
On December 30, New York Times reporter Nathaniel Popper published a piece about discrimination against Coinbase employees on gender and racial grounds.
