Coinbase hires former Morgan Stanley executive

The cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has hired a former Morgan Stanley managing director and head of regulatory compliance Ian Runyan, according to Bloomberg Law.

Runyan will head the corporate compliance department. He will help the company prepare for a direct listing.

Earlier, Coinbase invited Brett Redfearn, the former director of the SEC’s Division of Trading and Markets, to serve as vice president of products and capital markets.

On February 25, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission approved Coinbase’s application for a direct listing. In the run-up to this event, the exchange faced regulatory claims and paid a $6.5 million fine.

Coinbase will list 114,850,769 Class A shares on Nasdaq.
