Coinbase signs partnership with Bitkey wallet developers

The American bitcoin exchange Coinbase has formed a partnership with non-custodial wallet Bitkey, developed by Block, Inc., Jack Dorsey’s company.

Coinbase is thrilled to have partnered with Bitkey, the self-custody bitcoin wallet made by Block, Inc. to grow self-custody usage. Customers can soon easily transfer new & existing bitcoin with Coinbase to their Bitkey self-custody wallet.

Bitkey users will be able to buy, sell and transfer bitcoin via Coinbase Pay to the mobile app or the hardware wallet.

The platform is in beta testing, with a full rollout planned for this year.

The new functionality will be available to Bitkey and Coinbase users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Australia.

Back in May, Block completed the creation of an open-source ASIC chip prototype for bitcoin mining.

In March, TBD’s subsidiary announced the launch of a unit to develop the Lightning Network micro-payment ecosystem under the name с=.
