
Coinbase to Open a Canadian Branch
The largest American cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced an expansion of its staff in connection with opening a branch in Canada, as stated in the company’s blog.
In the first phase, the exchange posted 19 vacancies for technical and HR roles. The list will be expanded in due course. Staff will be able to work remotely for Coinbase’s Canadian unit.
“We plan to open a physical office in 2021, depending on the coronavirus situation in the country,” said platform representatives.
Earlier Coinbase filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission a for an initial public offering in Form S-1. Analysts at Messari estimated Coinbase’s potential market capitalization after the IPO at $28 billion.
On June 1, 2020, Canada legalized the operation of crypto exchanges. Under the new rules they are classified as money-service businesses.
