Coinbase updates Coinbase Prime to attract institutional investors

The Nasdaq-listed bitcoin exchange Coinbase has unveiled a beta version of its broker platform for institutional investors, Coinbase Prime, with expanded functionality. The announcement is in блоге of the company.

Among the new tools are access to market data from more than 10 venues, expanded analytics and support, automated order execution at the best price, and staking.

“Coinbase has reimagined Prime based on feedback from hundreds of customers to bring to market the first integrated product offering,” the company said.

The updated version is part of the company’s plan to attract new institutional clients. Coinbase noted that the service is aimed at banks, large investors and organisations that “want to add cryptocurrency to their balance sheets.”

According to the company, by the end of March 2021 more than 8,000 clients had entrusted the platform with $122 billion.

In 2020, Coinbase acquired the cryptocurrency prime broker Tagomi for $75 million.

In January 2021, the bitcoin exchange acquired the Routefire service. It also acquired the blockchain infrastructure solutions provider Bison Trails.

In April, Coinbase announced the acquisition of the data provider on cryptocurrency derivatives markets Skew.
