Compass Mining secures 27-MW Texas hosting deal for about 9,000 Bitcoin miners

Compass Mining, a provider of bitcoin-mining hardware and services, has signed a hosting agreement for around 9,000 mining devices with Aspen Creek Digital, a data-centre operator.

Compass Mining will gain access to 27 MW of a total 30 MW at the Aspen Creek facility in Texas. The data centre is powered by a solar plant behind the meter.

In July the company reached a hosting agreement for 25,000 ASIC miners at the Compute North facility in Texas. The latter filed a bankruptcy filing in September.

Earlier in June, Compass Mining ousted CEO Whitt Gibbs and CFO Jodi Fischer. By early the following month, the new leadership announced the layoffs of 15% of staff and cost-cutting measures.
