It also included Temasek, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Microsoft, Anthos Capital, Sound Ventures, C Ventures, Third Point, Marshall Wace, True Capital Management, and the venture fund UTA VC from United Talent Agency. The investors valued the company at $7 billion.
The raised funds will be converted into Ethereum, said ConsenSys CEO Joseph Lubin. This practice will be used in subsequent investment rounds ‘to rebalance the ETH-to-fiat ratio’.
The funds will be used for:
- growing headcount by more than 600 employees;
- redesign of Web3 wallet MataMask (a radically updated version is expected this year);
- integration with various protocols;
- development of the Infura infrastructure project;
- investments in and development of other tools to advance the Ethereum ecosystem.
In November 2021 ConsenSys closed a $200 million funding round. At that time the company was valued at $3.2 billion.
Earlier ConsenSys acquired the operator of the Ethereum wallet MyCrypto.
