Copper hires former UK chancellor Philip Hammond as adviser

Former UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond has joined Copper’s custodial service as a senior adviser.

According to a press release, Hammond will provide “strategic guidance for Copper as the company expands globally.” He will also focus on promoting the UK as a “global leader in digital asset technologies”.

Over the years Hammond led the Foreign Office, the Ministry of Defence, and the Department for Transport. In 2016 he was appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer in Theresa May’s new government — a post he left after three years.

Co-founder of Brevan Howard Asset Management Alan Howard invested $25 million in Copper. Funding continued the Series B round, in which the custodian raised $50 million.
