Unknown individuals who created a map visualising leaked Yandex.Eda user data have supplemented it with a new portion of information.
On March 23, the map with information about Yandex.Eda customers was discovered and distributed by several Telegram channels. Names, delivery addresses, phone numbers and users’ spending over six months were publicly accessible.
Regarding the leak, Yandex announced it on March 1. According to the company’s statement, it occurred due to “undue actions by one of its employees”.
The court fined Yandex.Eda 60,000 rubles for the data leak.
Although the site was blocked in Russia, it continues to operate, and its creators are adding new data to the map. It now displays information from the GIBDD (traffic police), VTB, SDEK, Wildberries, Beeline, Avito and other sources affected by leaks, Forbes reports.
“We have seen how little our privacy is valued, and decided to launch a new version of the site. The court fined Yandex.Eda 60,000 rubles for the data leak of customers, that is, our delivery addresses and personal data cost 0.009 rubles per user (6,397,035 users)”, — the message on the site says.
Earlier, last year, personal data of nearly 2 million Beeline customers appeared in the open.
