Crypto Influencers’ Bout Boosts Two Meme Tokens

On February 24th, crypto blogger Ben Armstrong, known for his YouTube channel Bitboy Crypto, faced off against developer More Light in a match organized by the sports company Karate Combat in Mexico.

The meme coins associated with the participants — Ben (BEN) and HarryPotterObamaSonic10Inu (BITCOIN) — surged following the match.

“I accidentally told the Karate Combat organizer that if Bitboy’s opponent backed out, I would fight him. I only learned about the match four to five weeks ago and was relaxing, not training,” More Light told Cointelegraph.

According to him, Armstrong entered the ring “excited” and made “crazy faces.”

More Light is one of the developers of the BITCOIN meme token. According to the betting platform Polymarkets, he was the favorite in the match, with a 62% chance of winning.

However, after three two-minute rounds, the judges declared Armstrong the winner, having scored more points.

Following the match, the BITCOIN price rose from $0.04 to $0.06 — a 50% increase. At the time of writing, the asset’s price had adjusted to $0.054.

The meme token BEN, associated with Armstrong, jumped by 55% but later also slightly declined.

According to More Light, BitBoy turned out to be a “nice guy” in real life, and there is no animosity between them.

Armstrong is known for his controversial behavior. In September 2023, the blogger was detained by police for attempting to assault his partner.

He also allegedly stalked a lawyer who filed a lawsuit against him for promoting the bankrupt FTX and skipped a court hearing to go on a cruise.

In February 2024, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin inadvertently pumped BITCOIN by 70% after correcting an inaccuracy about the token in his essay.
