
Crypto scammers fleece Kaliningrad resident of 1.3 million rubles
A Kaliningrad resident became a victim of criminals who promised her earnings from cryptocurrency, according to the local МВД.
She came across an advertisement on Instagram about earnings under the guise of a real bank.
The victim clicked the link; after a while a ‘manager’ who allegedly trained her to invest in cryptocurrencies contacted her. The Kaliningrad resident registered on the so-called ‘broker platform,’ where she bought cryptocurrency, transferring her money to electronic wallets.
«”The ‘broker platform’ faithfully plotted charts of cryptocurrency price declines and rises, showed how much money was on the Kaliningrad resident’s account, the ‘forecast’ and the expected profit», — noted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Subsequently the woman took out a loan and transferred the money to the accounts she was given. When she wanted to withdraw funds, the manager stopped responding. In total the Kaliningrad resident lost about 1.3 million rubles, according to law enforcement.
Earlier in Novokuznetsk, потерял 850 000 рублей in an attempt to earn money from cryptocurrency.
