Cryptocurrencies to feature in a dedicated Davos session

The organizers of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos will dedicate a dedicated session to the cryptocurrency industry titled ‘Resetting Digital Currencies’, which will take place on January 25 and 28.

The main theme of the session will be the declining role of cash and the emergence of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). The speakers will discuss the opportunities offered by cryptocurrencies. They will also discuss the work of a global consortium for the governance of digital currencies, established with the WEF as its base and working on regulating digital assets.

This year the WEF will be held in online Davos Agenda format from January 25 to 29. The main Davos Forum in person is scheduled in Singapore for May 13-16, 2021.

As reported in January 2020, the WEF unveiled the first-of-its-kind guidance for central banks developing CBDCs.
