Cryptocurrency Payments Hinder Blockchain Gaming Adoption

Over 11% of participants in the Elympics survey have never used gaming Web3 applications due to the complexity of interacting with cryptocurrency wallets.

A gaming Telegram channel conducted the study in collaboration with the Blockchain Game Alliance and the PlayToEarn portal.

Approximately 8% of respondents stated they do not understand the value of blockchain games, while 9% admitted to having no interest in the applications.

In contrast, only 2.4% of users indicated satisfaction with the Web 2.0 format.

The survey results indicate that more than half of gamers in Web3 applications are simply hoping for an airdrop. Other main motivations include the opportunity to earn in-game and the competitive aspect.

Meanwhile, 76.13% of those surveyed confirmed participation in blockchain games. In terms of themes, casinos and betting platforms lead, followed by strategies, RPGs, and shooters.

Among blockchains, TON is the undisputed leader. Ethereum, BNB, and Ronin lag significantly behind.

“Games have proven to be an incredible tool for Web3 adoption, and we see the TON ecosystem as a lever here. Combined with Telegram’s extensive distribution network, this is a unique position to become the home for social network games,” said Inal Kardan, a partner at TON Ventures.

In August, the number of unique wallets interacting daily with gaming blockchain applications reached a record 4.2 million.
