According to experts at Arkham Intelligence, the attackers used the phishing service Inferno Drainer for the attack.
In November 2023, the team behind the crypto drainer announced the closure of the tool. However, this year it resumed activity amid a bull market.
Reports indicate that the DeFi-focused service charges a 20% commission.
In 2023 alone, assets worth nearly $70 million were stolen using Inferno Drainer.
A dashboard on Dune by ScamSniffer counts over 203,000 victims throughout the fraudulent tool’s existence, with total damages exceeding $215.6 million.
Earlier, in the third quarter, losses in the crypto industry from hacks and scams exceeded $413 million.
