CZ warns Binance clients about a large-scale phishing SMS campaign

Unknown actors organized a phishing SMS campaign targeting Binance clients. This was reported by the exchange’s CEO, Changpeng Zhao.

He said that recently there has been an uptick in phishing messages to the platform’s clients, informing them about withdrawal requests from the exchange.

The SMS contains a phishing link allegedly to cancel the withdrawal request. Through it, attackers collect data.

The head of Binance did not disclose whether there were any victims or how many.

Zhao urged users never to click links in messages and to always verify the exchange’s URL.

Binance representatives declined to comment further.

Back in January, Zhao spoke a series of attacks on Binance customers. As part of blockchain monitoring, the security service froze the suspicious activity. The exchange did not disclose details of the incident.
