
Dagestan Leads in Mining-Related Electricity Theft
More than half of the mining-farm electricity-theft cases in the North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) are in Dagestan. сообщили in the Rosseti North Caucasus branch.
In total, for 2019–2021, energy officials in the district identified 61 mining farms that illegally consumed electricity worth 400 million rubles. Forty-three cases with damages of 188.4 million rubles were in Dagestan.
In Ingushetia, over three years, 11 cases of miners’ electricity theft were detected, totaling more than 150 million rubles.
“The amount of damage recovery is dozens of times higher than the payment based on the meter readings. It is calculated based on the maximum possible consumption of connected equipment around the clock since the last check. The bill augments the penalty provided by law,” the press service said.
In 2021, the North Caucasus Federal District identified 35 cases of unaccounted energy consumption totaling more than 48 million kWh. The damage amount for the previous year exceeded 171 million rubles.
Earlier in January 2022, Dagestan’s FSB officers seized 4343 ASIC miners with a total value of more than 500 million rubles.
