Darknet publishes database of Russians' vaccination QR codes; Rostelecom calls it invalid

A darknet forum has begun selling a database of QR codes for those vaccinated against COVID-19, comprising 48 million records. The report comes via the Telegram channel «Утечки информации».

The seller claims to have obtained the data from the app ‘Gosuslugi STOP Coronavirus’.

The sample of the database contains the initials of the full name, date of birth, the unique register entry number (UNRZ), the first two digits of the passport series and the last three digits of the passport number, the vaccine name, and the QR code in PNG format.

“Gosuslugi responded promptly to this news last night, and the ability to verify QR codes by UNRZ no longer works. Accordingly, all QR codes in the database being sold on the forum are now invalid,” said InfoLeaks.

Rostelecom said that the database published on the darknet is invalid. The data were generated outside the system and have no relation to the active user database of the app, the company asserts.

Earlier in November, client data of the Robinhood online broker were put up for sale on the dark web.
