Deripaska compared the launch of the digital ruble to Yuri Gagarin’s space flight

Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska once again stated the need for an expedited launch of the digital ruble and compared the scale of this event to Yuri Gagarin’s flight into space.

“It was needed two years ago… And next year, after the launch of the digital yuan, it would simply be shameful not to launch it. This is more important for our country now than Yuri Gagarin’s flight into space in 1961!” – wrote Deripaska (author’s spelling and punctuation).

The businessman’s remark was a response to the Strategy for the Development of the Financial Market in the Russian Federation, published the day before. In it, the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Russia confirmed the plans for the launch of the digital ruble as the third form of money by 2030.

The introduction of the digital ruble would protect investments in the face of sanctions wars.
