Such precise timing for the hard fork will allow the advantages of the Proof-of-Stake Proof-of-Stake consensus algorithm to be realized, he added.
“The update will provide support for light clients by the main consensus, refine the incentive accounting in the network, fix some issues with validator rewards and adjust the level of penalties according to EIP-2982,” Ryan said.
Developers plan to publish all mainnet client releases on October 4. After that, users will be able to update their client software.
After the Altair hard fork, ETH 2.0 engineers will begin building the logic and specifications for the merge with the main Ethereum network and test their software with other teams in testnets.
“Engineers will verify the specifications in their current form and provide dynamic feedback to refine and fix issues as they arise,” wrote Ryan.
According to him, work on the upgrade continued throughout 2021.
Back in December 2020, the launch of phase zero of the second version Ethereum took place on December 1, 2020.
In February 2021, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin revealed details of the future ETH 2.0 hard fork.
