Discord CEO hints at Ethereum integration

The messaging app Discord is exploring the possibility of connecting to the Ethereum blockchain. This stems from a tweet by the platform’s founder and CEO, Jason Citron.

He posted a screenshot of the app’s Integrations tab with the option to connect an Ethereum account. The screen also shows MetaMask and WalletConnect wallet buttons.

He captioned the image with the words “probably nothing”.

As of writing, the features shown by Citron in the messenger are not yet available.

His tweet was a reply to Packy McCormick, the author of the Not Boring newsletter, who posted a link to his article about Discord. In it, he wrote about the platform’s potential as a “sleeping Web 3” and mentioned its ties to cryptocurrencies.

Earlier, researchers at Kaspersky Lab found that attackers steal cryptocurrency and personal data from Discord users by posing as BTC or ETH giveaways.
