Dogecoin co-founder says he will no longer work on the meme cryptocurrency
Dogecoin (DOGE) co-founder Billy Markus said he would never work on the project again because of the community’s attitude.
i never will. working on a crypto project is terrible as i have actually found the more you do for people, the more entitled they get and worse they treat you.
i respect the developers a lot for volunteering to do so for all these years.

“I will never work on Dogecoin again. Working on a crypto project is terrible, because I have found that the more you do for people, the more rights they get and the worse they treat you,” — wrote him.
Markus also expressed respect for developers for volunteering on the meme cryptocurrency for many years.
He reminded that he does not speak on behalf of Dogecoin, since he is not part of the project. Markus described himself as a member of the community and said that he holds about 220 000 DOGE (about $42 000 at the time of writing).
“I will defend those who, in my view, are actively making the space better, and restrain those who do not. I will speak about whatever I want,” he added.
Yet another reminder:
I don’t speak for dogecoin.
I am not on the project. I am a community member. I hold about 220k doge.
I will defend those who I feel are actively making the space better. I will discourage those who I feel aren’t.
I will talk about whatever I want.

In February 2021, Markus described how, in 2015, he left the project and sold his savings in Dogecoin for an amount equivalent to a used Honda Civic.
Earlier in June, Markus sold a collection of non-fungible tokens with the Dogecoin logo.
