Dogecoin cofounder calls for cross-chain bridge with Ethereum

Creating a cross-chain bridge between the Dogecoin and Ethereum blockchains would add practical value to the meme cryptocurrency, according to its co-founder Billy Markus.

It would expand the use cases for DOGE in Web 3.0, Markus argues.

“This would open up the possibility for sites like OpenSea to accept Dogecoin as payment for wrapped purchases. Essentially, the bridge would enable converting DOGE into a wrapped token and back, unlocking the technology,” wrote Markus.

In his view, dedicated sites would be able to see wrapped coins in a MetaMask wallet and offer new features and capabilities for holders.

It would also boost Dogecoin’s usefulness by broadening the number of companies that accept the cryptocurrency and its use for donations, Markus noted.

In April, Vlad Tenev called the conditions for turning DOGE into ‘the future currency of the internet and of people’.
