Dogecoin’s iconic dog Kabosu seriously ill

A Shiba Inu named Kabosu, the meme’s heroine and the face of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency, has developed serious health problems. This was reported by the dog’s owner, Atsuko Sato.

The Japanese woman said that Kabosu is ‘in a very dangerous situation’:

“Blood was drawn at the hospital today. In the evening a doctor called me. They told me that this is very dangerous. I did not expect that everything would be this bad.”

Earlier on her blog she mentioned the dog’s kidney disease and a deteriorating appetite.

In November Kabosu turned 17. On average, members of the Shiba Inu breed live 12-15 years.

Nevertheless the dog’s owner said she has support from around the world and hopes that the pet will be all right.

One Twitter user offered to fully cover ‘any expenses necessary to ensure the best possible treatment’, and Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus asked 2 million of his followers to send ‘love, prayers and good vibes’ to Sato and Kabosu.

It was Kabosu who inspired Markus and Jackson Palmer in 2013 to create the meme cryptocurrency. In 2018, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin visited Kabosu’s owner in Tokyo.
