Dormant Wallet Moves 53 BTC After 11 Years

On July 23, a wallet inactive for over 11 years transferred 53 BTC, valued at approximately $3.5 million, as reported by Whale Alert.

The assets accumulated at this address in 2013 were valued at $3716 at the time—a nearly 1000-fold increase.

Earlier in July, 1004 BTC, dormant for over 10 years, were moved. The value of the cryptocurrency had increased approximately 77 times since acquisition.

Mid-month, a wallet inactive for more than 12 years transferred 1000 BTC worth about $60 million. When received on September 25, 2012, the assets were valued at $11,908. Over this period, the amount grew nearly 5000-fold.

In March, an unknown miner sold 1000 BTC mined in 2010. The bitcoins, received as a block reward, were valued at around $0.28 at the time. Consolidated from several wallets, the coins were transferred to Coinbase, yielding about $68 million amid a price peak.

At the end of the month, the owner of a 12-year dormant address moved all 500 BTC, worth nearly $35 million, splitting them into smaller deposits.

In April, a wallet inactive for 10 years transferred 246 BTC valued at $17 million, and another 50 BTC (~$3.3 million) began moving after nearly 14 years.

Earlier in May, an unknown whale moved 687.33 BTC ($43.94 million at the time of the transaction), also dormant for 10 years.
