DuckDuckGo Introduces Filter to Exclude AI-Generated Images
The privacy-focused browser DuckDuckGo has introduced a feature that allows users to filter out AI-generated images from search results.
New setting: hide AI-generated images in DuckDuckGo
Our philosophy about AI features is “private, useful, and optional.” Our goal is to help you find what you’re looking for. You should decide for yourself how much AI you want in your life – or if you want any at all. (1/4) pic.twitter.com/pTolmsEQlQ

This tool was added in response to user feedback about AI-generated images interfering with the search for desired illustrations.
The feature is activated after performing a search: in the “Images” tab, users can toggle the display of AI content on or off.
The feature emerges amid the widespread proliferation of AI images on the internet. The filter employs manually compiled blocklists, including those from uBlockOrigin and uBlacklist Huge AI Blocklist.
“While it does not provide 100% effectiveness, it significantly reduces the number of such images,” DuckDuckGo stated.
In the future, the search engine promises to add more filters.
AI startups are attempting to capture a portion of the search market from Google by offering their own browsers and encouraging users to abandon Chrome.
