Durov Launches AI Lab in Kazakhstan

Telegram to open AI lab in Kazakhstan, collaborating with the national supercomputer.

Telegram is set to open an AI laboratory in Kazakhstan as part of its collaboration with the country’s supercomputer. This announcement was made by Pavel Durov at the Digital Bridge 2025 forum in Astana.

“A year ago, we opened our first regional office in Kazakhstan and are very pleased with the results. I am delighted to announce that today we are launching a specialized artificial intelligence laboratory in the Alem.ai building,” the entrepreneur stated.

He noted that over the past few months, the company has been working on new technology at the intersection of blockchain and AI. According to Durov, it will enable more than a billion people to use artificial intelligence functions confidentially, transparently, and efficiently.

“We hope that the Kazakh supercomputer cluster will become the first major provider of computing power for this network,” added the head of Telegram.

Mini-applications within Telegram will be the first users of the technology.

At Digital Bridge 2025, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held discussions with Durov. During their conversation, they explored cooperation in education, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
