
Dutch authorities arrest suspects in cryptocurrency fraud
Dutch authorities have arrested three men suspected of deceiving investors. This is stated in the department’s в пресс-релизе ведомства.
According to authorities, one of the group’s members created a cryptocurrency that he advertised on an unnamed platform and on Twitter, attracting investors and driving up the price.
“Then, in a short period of time, he sold a large number of coins, rendering them useless,” the police noted.
The man is also suspected of involvement in deceiving investors using the digital assets ERSO, MALC, EUROP and TulipMania.
During the operation, law enforcement found several computers at a warehouse in Deventer used for illegal mining. The department said they had identified the suspects as part of an investigation into the activities of the cryptocurrency exchange Coinhouse.eu.
Earlier in March, Irish police uncovered a fraudulent scheme to raise investments in cryptocurrencies from wealthy individuals.
