Ebang obtains exclusive rights to AsicBoost technology in Korea
The Chinese mining hardware maker Ebang International Holdings announced that it has obtained an exclusive license to the patent for the AsicBoost Bitcoin mining acceleration method in South Korea.

According to the press release, the solution increases equipment performance by about 20%.
\n
Under the agreement, the patent holder Circle Line International Limited granted Ebang exclusive rights to use the technology in Korea.
\n
The Chinese company said it was fully committed to defending the legitimate rights of patent holders.

Journalist Colin Wu reported that the patent holder has filed suit against Samsung seeking to halt the production of Whatsminer mining chips compatible with AsicBoost from MicroBT. He noted that the suit explicitly names Whatsminer models, including the flagship M30S.

\nMicroBT is the main user of mining chips from the Korean corporation, Wu noted. In his view, it is difficult to predict how the legal process will affect the business of the companies, as well as other ASIC miner manufacturers.
\n
Edward Evenson, Braiins’ head of business development and operator of the Slush Pool mining pool, said that it would not affect Whatsminer. Wu noted that MicroBT may pay for the use of the technology.
\n
Since its appearance, the AsicBoost algorithm has sparked controversy in the community, chiefly due to the patent on a solution for the open Bitcoin network.
