EigenLayer Enhances Security Against Sybil Attacks

The restaking protocol EigenLayer has implemented additional security measures for the data availability layer EigenDA to prevent Sybil attacks and DDoS.

The solution employs a “whitelist” with authentication via the ECDSA algorithm based on IP or ETH addresses.

According to the announcement, EigenDA’s free access allows for the processing of six BLOB objects of 128 KB each, totaling 768 KB every 10 minutes. Greater bandwidth can be requested through partnerships.

EigenLayer noted that the data processing speed at the free level surpasses all competitors in the Ethereum rollup segment. For instance, Base sends fewer than two “blobs” in the same 10-minute period.

“We are actively working on permissionless payments for BLOB object bandwidth, which will be launched later this year. Once this system is deployed, EigenDA will also offer reserved bandwidth at a fixed rate,” the developers stated.

In May, the project launched an airdrop, distributing 113 million EIGEN tokens. The second phase of the first season of distribution by EigenLayer began on June 19.
