The updated course will explain complex economic processes to students. The program covers topics such as savings, cryptocurrency mining, monetary sovereignty, and the workings of global financial markets.
The curriculum was developed in collaboration with specialists from WESPARK. The authors have included numerous visualizations, animations, and interactive tasks. One assignment invites teenagers to design their own currency. This practical exercise will help children easily grasp the laws of scarcity and the principles of issuance.
The Bitcoin Diploma 2.0 course will be taught in El Salvador’s public schools starting this academic year. ONBTC Director Stacy Herbert called the initiative a crucial step towards improving financial literacy in the country.
In the future, the agency plans to launch additional accelerators. These stages of the program will assist young Salvadorans in launching startups and opening their own bitcoin businesses.
Back in September 2021, El Salvador became the first country in the world to recognize bitcoin as legal tender. Services and merchants were required to accept the cryptocurrency.
As of February 16, 2026, El Salvador’s bitcoin reserve reached 7,564 BTC.
