El Salvador’s government buys 150 more BTC

El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele said the government bought another 150 BTC as the price of the first cryptocurrency fell to $45,000.

In total, the country’s Bitcoin fund holds 700 BTC. On the day the law legalising the first cryptocurrency came into force, September 7, the government bought 550 BTC.

Bukele also urged buying Bitcoin on dips, calling it ‘presidential advice’.

According to Coin ATM Radar, El Salvador ranks third globally in the number of Bitcoin ATMs, behind the United States and Canada. The country has 205 ATMs installed.

Earlier, residents of the capital burned a Bitcoin ATM during demonstrations against recognizing digital gold as legal tender.

Earlier, the legalization of the first cryptocurrency led to sell-offs of the country’s government bonds.
