Elon Musk: AI Will Challenge Humanity’s Search for Meaning
In the future, people will need to find new ways to imbue their lives with meaning due to advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics. This comment was made by Tesla CEO Elon Musk at the All-In Summit.
According to the billionaire, technological advancements will eliminate the need for human labor.
“I think the real problem is how do we find meaning in life in a world where AI can do everything we can, but better? This is perhaps a more serious challenge,” he said.
Musk noted that the Turing test, once a benchmark for evaluating a computer’s ability to mimic human conversation, is no longer relevant.
“While I know more and more people who have retired and seem to enjoy that life, I think there might be some crisis of meaning […]”, the entrepreneur noted.
He stated that autonomous vehicles and humanoid robots could infinitely increase economic growth and productivity, and in the future, the number of humanoids will be twice that of humans.
Back in May, Elon Musk identified artificial intelligence as his primary concern.
