Aluminium and hydroelectric power producer En+ Group announced a partnership with data centre operator BitRiver to create the Bit+ mining venture.
The parties have already launched a 10 MW site in Bratsk, near BitRiver’s data centre. In the future, the plant’s capacity will be expanded to 40 MW.
The site consists of 14 mobile data centres for cryptocurrency mining. Each mobile module can accommodate up to 400 new-generation S19 Pro miners.
En+ Group is responsible for guaranteed electricity supplies, while BitRiver handles the site’s operational management.
The joint venture is targeting resource-efficient mining with a low carbon footprint:
“The lower average annual temperature in Irkutsk Oblast allows us to reduce the energy consumption of data centres, increasing their efficiency while at the same time reducing greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere,” said Mikhail Khardikov, head of En+ Group’s energy business.
Earlier in July, BitRiver and the Binance Pool platform announced a collaboration aimed at building infrastructure for the cryptocurrency and mining industry in Russia and the CIS.
