Ethereum mixer Tornado Cash deploys smart contracts on Optimism network
The Tornado Cash Ethereum mixer team has deployed the service’s smart contracts on the Optimism layer-2 network, ForkLog has learned from project representatives.
According to a press release, Tornado Cash now operates on Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, xDAI Chain, Avalanche, Arbitrum and Optimism networks.
According to the developers, since the launch of Optimism users have saved more than $275 million in gas fees. They explained choosing this solution by the desire “to join a broad and diversified network of applications that already use this L2”.
According to L2 Fees, at the time of writing, transaction fees in this network are around $2.46. For comparison — on the Ethereum blockchain the figure exceeds $9.50.

Optimism is one of the most popular L2 solutions for Ethereum. According to L2BEAT, funds locked in its network exceed $400 million. The leader of the segment — Arbitrum — has a figure of $2.8 billion.

Earlier the Tornado Cash integrated the service with the Arbitrum One network.
Back in December 2021, the mixer developers deployed the Nova pool, which allows depositing and withdrawing arbitrary sums of ETH.
