Etherscan launches AI-powered Code Reader

Blockchain explorer Etherscan unveiled a beta version of the AI-powered Code Reader for analysing the source code of smart contracts.

“By selecting the contract address, users can access the source code files and interact with them,” the description says.

During operation, the program generates prompts using OpenAI’s large language model, but does not support a conversational mode.

To use the tool, only an OpenAI API key is required. Code Reader automatically extracts the source code from the contract address. The user can interact with the data by asking questions for a deeper understanding.

Examples of AI capabilities cited by the developers include:

• a code review to better understand how it works internally;
• a list of read/write data functions in Ethereum with detailed explanations;
• exploration of dapps integration.

“We greatly value user feedback to expand the tool’s capabilities and address any issues. Please leave your feedback and help us improve Code Reader during this beta,” the service team said.

Back in 2020, Etherscan added the ETHProtect extension for tracking compromised addresses and funds.
