ethOS Team Unveils dGEN1 Hardware for Ethereum

The developers of the Ethereum-based operating system ethOS have introduced dGEN1, a hardware device optimized for decentralized applications on the blockchain.

According to the announcement, the product is designed for “everyday onchain use.” The development includes a browser and an integrated crypto wallet, and features a specialized screen that displays transaction notifications and metadata during network interactions.

The team states that ethOS, based on LineageOS and an Android fork, integrates its own lightweight Ethereum client Nimbus to ensure timely data verification without using external RPC.

The built-in browser supports IPFS and eth domains, and the wallet is fully compatible with L2 solutions.

The dGEN1 device is available for pre-order by creating an NFT on the Base network. The gadget is priced at 0.2 ETH (~$520) or 61,296 meme tokens DEGEN.

All dGEN1 owners are entitled to a share of the airdrop pool upon receiving their order. Shipping of the devices is scheduled for spring 2025.

In August, the project received support from Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, who donated 200 ETH (~$517,000 at the time) to the developers.

Earlier in September, the Solana Mobile team unveiled a new version of the Web3 smartphone called Solana Seeker (formerly Chapter 2), developed in collaboration with the Solflare wallet. Airdrops and rewards are also provided for gadget owners.

In the same month, the entertainment-focused blockchain project XProtocol announced the “world’s first DePIN smartphone with a management node.”
