Episode 2: Viruses and Antidotes

Their mental state deteriorates, and a debate over the moral right to kill the living dead nearly turns into a fight. The situation is saved by a call from a mysterious stranger.
Materials for Further Immersion
- “Dawn of the Dead”. A cult film by George Romero, where the word “zombie” is never mentioned, yet it raises many questions still relevant today.
- “Witch of the Living Dead”. A Nigerian trash film from the 1980s — the first and only directorial work of Charles Abi Enanchong, whose artistic qualities make one ponder the documentary nature of this creation.
- “Telezombies”. An undeservedly forgotten horror from the video salon era: a zombie movie plays on a cursed TV, while zombies head towards the viewer’s home.
- Koji Suzuki, “Ring”. The novel that inspired the legendary film about “the scariest girl in the world.” The adaptation is a family-friendly movie compared to the literary original.
- Marshall McLuhan, “The Mechanical Bride: Folklore of Industrial Man”. An essay by the Canadian media theory pioneer on how marketing and mass culture turn us into George Romero’s heroes.
- Resident Evil. The first installment of the legendary gaming franchise about the scientific origins of zombies, needing no special introduction.
- Resident Evil: The Village. The latest game in the series, which completely overturns the “Resident” setting.
