Experts: Personal data of nearly 2 million Beeline customers leaked online

Personal data of home-internet subscribers of VimpelCom, the company that owns the Beeline brand, were left exposed.

Cybersecurity researcher Bob Diachenko first disclosed this on his Twitter.

Beeline = https://t.co/3RJxn5zD4B = is exposing pretty much all of its millions-sized base of RU Internet users contractual data (passports, emails, phones, addresses etc) + CRM notes, configs and internal info. https://t.co/DwpcIG5OcK

Diachenko contacted Beeline’s support, but they did not respond to the English-language inquiry.

Later the Telegram channel \”Leaks and Information\” confirmed the information. According to the search engine Shodan, the server indexed with Beeline customer data was accessible from 27 August to 13 September and contained more than 4.1 TB of data.

\n\n

Among the leaked data were names, phone numbers, email addresses, passport series and numbers, residential addresses and dates of birth.

\n\n

The amount of leaked subscriber data is difficult to assess, but by indirect signs one can suppose that it concerns 1.5–2 million records, writes \”Leaks of Information\”.

\n\n

Beeline’s press service said the database may contain data from a ‘small portion of fixed-internet subscribers’.

\n\n

Earlier in 2019, a database of 8.7 million Beeline customers who had home internet was left exposed.
