Experts say attacks on Russian government resources aimed at mining have increased

Ransomware encryptors have been detected in the infrastructure of Russian medical facilities for the first time. This was stated by the deputy director of the National Coordination Center for Computer Incidents, Nikolai Murashov, according to ТАСС.

«In addition, there were noted cases of attacks on the resources of the CEC, the Public Chamber and government authorities during the nationwide vote on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation and the single voting day», — he said.

Murashov also noted heightened attacks on the resources of government bodies, the defence industry facilities, as well as healthcare and scientific organisations, aimed at mining cryptocurrencies.

As reported according to Group-IB estimates, annual damage from ransomware encryptors exceeded $1 billion.
