By coin count, the address ranks third after the wallets belonging to Binance and Bitfinex, which have amassed $6.4 billion and $4.3 billion in Bitcoin.

Representatives of the platform told CoinDesk that asset custody on behalf of the company is provided by market maker Jump Trading.

Arkham traced the ownership to Robinhood after the transfer of 118,300 BTC from other addresses over a three-month period. The first transactions were made on March 8, after which, up to July 14, subsequent transfers followed for larger amounts, according to BitInfoCharts.

The wallet has drawn market attention in recent months, fueling various speculation about the identity of its owners. In the community, the address was linked to BlackRock and to Gemini.

In the second quarter of 2023, Robinhood’s revenue from crypto-related activities on a year-over-year basis fell by 18.5% to $31 million. The company held $12 billion in cryptocurrencies on behalf of clients.
