Fantom to consider moving to Optimistic Rollups
The Fantom Foundation developers are considering the possibility of moving the eponymous blockchain to the Optimistic Rollups technology, which is used in the L2 platforms Arbitrum One and OP Mainnet. The Block reports.
Last month, the Celo community proposed and then approved a plan to migrate the blockchain to an Ethereum-based Layer 2 solution.
The Fantom Foundation co-founder, André Cronje, said that his project is also actively studying the prospects of implementing such an approach. The developers are focusing on safety concerns.
The head of the organisation, Michael Kong, added that the deployment of L2 technology would open Fantom access to liquidity in the Ethereum ecosystem.
Cronje views Layer-2 networks as sidechains, and the Optimistic Rollups technology as a relatively safe bridge between the layers.
The Fantom ecosystem sits 23rd in DeFi Llama’s TVL ranking.

According to L2BEAT data, Arbitrum One and OP Mainnet lead among Layer-2 solutions with TVLs of $6.01 billion and $2.87 billion respectively.

Earlier, the Fantom platform launched a program to stimulate projects on the network via transaction fees. Qualifying applications will receive a reward equal to 15% of the gas fees as additional income.
