According to the press release, driving data such as distance and speed are uploaded to the Kiri cloud and automatically converted into KiriCoin by means of an algorithm.
The program head, Gabriele Catacchio, said that one kilometre will earn up to €0.02, and with an annual mileage of 10,000 kilometres the driver will receive around €150 in digital currency. The company did not specify what KiriCoin could be spent on.
“We want to support environmentally safe behaviour of our customers and reward them with exclusive advantages,” said a senior executive.
Drivers with the best results in Europe will receive additional vouchers for services such as Amazon, Netflix, Spotify, Apple and others.
In November 2020, WOG gas stations began accepting tokenised fuel vouchers from the Kuna cryptocurrency exchange.
