Startup Fileverse has unveiled Ddocs, a program for collaborative document use. The product serves as an alternative to Google Docs or Notion, offering enhanced privacy and a host of Web3 features, reports The Block.
“Just as Google documents are created by entering docs.new in a browser search, access to the decentralized counterpart is provided by entering ddocs.new,” the press release states.
An account is opened by signing a multisig wallet on the Gnosis Safe smart contract platform. This allows users to store a hashed version of the document on-chain and control access rights to the file.
“It acts as a registry for the content you save. When you publish a document on IPFS, you receive a hash that represents the information in the file. Whatever happens, you always have a representation of the list that exists off-chain in a peer-to-peer network,” explained the startup’s founder, Andreas Tsamados.
The Fileverse smart contract includes access permissions that determine who can view and/or edit documents.
It can also encode a “social recovery” feature. This allows access to a recovery code fragment in case account control is lost.
In addition to Ddocs, the team has developed a Notion-like Fileverse Portal and a file-sharing service, Fileverse Solo.
Earlier this year, representatives from the Fortune 100 list increased the number of supported blockchain initiatives by 39% to a “record level,” according to Coinbase.
