
Finnish Customs sell Bitcoin worth €46.5 million; proceeds to aid Ukraine
The Finnish Customs sold 1,889 BTC seized in investigations linked to drug-related crimes.
As stated in the пресс-релизе, the state received about €46.5 million from the sale of the cryptocurrencies. The sale was handled by two digital asset service providers.
The customs also hold around 90 BTC awaiting a further court decision. The agency has also frozen other cryptocurrencies, but did not disclose details due to the ongoing preliminary investigation.
Earlier it was reported that Finnish authorities would transfer the proceeds from the sale of the seized bitcoins as aid to Ukraine.
Representatives of the customs said Decrypt, that, according to their information, the proceeds from the sale of the cryptocurrencies will indeed be transferred to Ukraine — this has already been approved by the country’s parliament.
