Fireblocks adds Solana-based DeFi and NFT support

The cryptocurrency custodian Fireblocks has added support for Solana’s decentralised applications and NFT ecosystem for users and developers, according to The Block.

“The Fireblocks Web3 engine offers Solana developers the highest level of security when it comes to accessing the blockchain and its ecosystem of applications,” said Michael Shaulov, the company’s chief executive.

The Solana ecosystem sits sixth in the DeFi Llama ranking, behind Ethereum, Tron, BNB Chain, Avalanche and Polygon. Its TVL stands at $1.37 billion.

In early August, unknown hackers hacked about 8,000 wallets on Solana and drained millions of dollars. Before that, the cryptocurrency network had faced other serious problems such as clock desynchronisation and prolonged outages.

In January, Fireblocks raised $550 million in a Series E round. Investors valued the company at $8 billion.
