The Irkutsk police have halted the activities of a group of individuals suspected of stealing mining equipment. This, сообщили to the local interior ministry.
According to investigators, the suspects operated at night and carried out two theft attempts. Law enforcement reviewed CCTV footage and checked potential sites for the sale of the stolen goods.
As a result, police identified the individuals. They turned out to be five residents of the regional capital, four of whom had previously faced criminal charges for property crimes.

Searches were conducted at the suspects’ residences and in a container rented by them, during which police found about 60 ASIC miners. According to experts, their value exceeds 6 million rubles. Cash, USB drives, SIM cards, and other physical evidence were also seized.
Investigators opened criminal cases in connection with the theft. Three suspects were placed under house arrest; the others are under a travel ban.
Earlier in June, Irkutsk police, according to surveillance cameras found a 21-year-old local resident who stole equipment for Bitcoin mining. The damage was estimated at 120,000 rubles.
