At Bitstamp he spent the previous eight years and, in addition to serving as chief operating officer, was also responsible for business development.
Kraken describes Grčar as \”a pioneer in working with crypto exchanges who contributed to Bitstamp’s rapid growth,\” and places high expectations on the specialist.
Grčar has licensing experience for trading products, which Kraken needs at this new stage of development.
Last year the American exchange obtained a licence in the United Kingdom, allowing Kraken Futures to become the first authorised trading venue for cryptocurrency derivatives. Now Kraken has hired a specialist to \”build banking relationships and establish new partnerships with key stakeholders.\”
Grčar said Kraken was \”the only exchange bold enough, smart enough and willing to stand up for its customers\” after the Mt. Gox collapse in 2014.
As of the publication Kraken is the fifth-largest exchange by spot trading volume, Bitstamp is in sixth place.
Data: Messari.
Earlier this year, Kraken appointed Marco Santori, the former president of Blockchain, as its chief legal officer.
