Coinbase, the cryptocurrency exchange, has hired former Goldman Sachs top executive Roger Bartlett as head of financial operations. This was reported by The Block.
Before his appointment, Bartlett held a similar post. He spent more than 15 years at Goldman Sachs.
On his LinkedIn page, the executive described the “mission to create economic freedom” as “an opportunity that comes once in a lifetime.” Bartlett explained his decision to join Coinbase.
In late March 2021 Coinbase hired former director of trading at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Brett Redfearn. This occurred a couple of weeks before the direct listing on Nasdaq.
He left the company after four months, according to some reports, due to Coinbase’s decision to shift priorities toward digital assets with security properties [digital-asset securities].
In late January 2022, Shopify founder and CEO Tobias Lütke joined Coinbase’s board of directors.
For context, Coinbase’s shares fell 5.8% after the release of Q4 2021 results.
