Former head of regulation at the Singapore Exchange (SGX), Richard Teng, has been named Binance Singapore’s CEO. This is stated in сообщении by the cryptocurrency exchange.
According to a profile on LinkedIn, Teng spent 13 years at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). Before the appointment he held the post of executive director of Abu Dhabi Global Market within ADGM.
“We strive to work closely with industry leaders and policymakers to accelerate the adoption of the fast-growing sector and support its sustainable development,” said the new Binance Singapore CEO.
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao called Teng’s appointment a significant step toward advancing Singapore’s local crypto ecosystem and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Earlier in August 2021, Binance.US CEO Brian Brooks abruptly left the position after three months in the role. The media wrote about his conflict with Changpeng Zhao. Brooks’s position was temporarily held by Binance.US Chief Financial Officer Joshua Sroge.
