The Kalmykia Prosecutor’s Office has approved charges against the former CEO of ‘Zavod ZhBI — Konstruktsii’ and the former director of the company ‘DSK’ for illegal cryptocurrency mining in production facilities. According to the agency’s press service.
According to investigators, the managers placed mining farms in the plant’s premises and in the former LLC ‘Diegel’ located on the complex’s grounds. The accused illegally connected the equipment to the electrical grids of ‘MRSK Yuga’ — ‘Kalmenegro’, resulting in damages of more than 16 million rubles.
The head of the housing-construction plant is also charged with abuse of power.
Law enforcement seized the mining equipment and froze the defendants’ assets totaling more than 25 million rubles.
The prosecutor’s office has sent the criminal case to the Elista City Court.
Earlier, in November 2020, a Moscow court ordered the company ‘Innovative Digital Technologies’ to pay nearly 100 million rubles for illegal mining.
